Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attended a church service on Sunday at the PCEA Emmanuel Matanya, Waguthiru Parish in Laikipia County.
He emphasised the importance of unity, vigilance and gratitude towards God for the nation of Kenya.
Gachagua reflected on the blessings the country has received, stating, "God has given us a great Nation of Kenya and a wonderful people Kenyans are."
He went on to say that the day was another opportunity to thank God for His goodness and love towards the country and its people.
Gachagua was joined by a number of political and religious leaders.
He urged both the church and the Kenyan people to remain strong and vigilant, stressing that the nation must stay united in the face of any adversity.
"We cannot afford a broken nation and lawlessness. Not anymore," Gachagua said, calling for national peace and stability.
He concluded his remarks with a Biblical quote from Proverbs 24:10: "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small," urging Kenyans to remain steadfast in times of difficulty.
