Thongori passed away on January 14, after a short illness.
She had been flown to India for treatment where she passed away.
Her death was confirmed by the chairperson of the Senior Counsel Bar (SCB) Dr Fred Ojiambo, who described her as a passionate and compassionate advocate.
“Judy was the country’s foremost authority in family law. She was recognised for her invaluable contributions, particularly by being placed on the Law Society of Kenya’s (LSK) Roll of Honour,” he said.
“Her selflessness, willingness to mentor, and dedication to justice will be greatly missed.”
The pioneer family lawyer founded Judy Thongori & Co-Advocates in February 2003.
