Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has reshuffled her cabinet and nominated Elijah Munga as the new executive member for Youths and Sports.

The governor explained that the changes were made to improve service delivery and enhance the county's performance for the benefit of the residents.

Munga's nomination has been forwarded to Homa Bay County Assembly for vetting.

Should he get approved, Munga will replace Sarah Malit who has been re-assigned as the executive member for Fisheries.

Munga's nomination comes as a new executive member comes following the exit of Polycarp Okombo who was elected the Speaker for the Homa Bay County Assembly. 

In the new changes, Roseline Omollo who had been at the helm of the Health docket was swapped with Mercy Osewe at Governance and Devolution.

Joash Aloo has moved from the Department of Water to Trade.

"The nomination and changes are made to enhance service delivery and optimal performance in the county. The move will also help us to fill the vacant positions," Wanga said in the notice.

Other changes included the transfer of John Agili from Fisheries to Water

The governor also nominated Elijah Nyiero and Stephen Okeyo Othira as Chief Officers for Sports and Vocational Training and Human Capital respectively.

The reshuffling has also affected the position of nine chief officers who have been reassigned to new departments to ensure optimal performance and responsiveness to county needs.

Governor Wanga emphasized that these changes take effect immediately with officials expected to deliver efficient services to the people of Homa Bay county.

"The changes take effect immediately. Officials have the mandate to deliver services to the people," she stated

The county secretary has been tasked to ensure smooth handing over by those affected. Those not affected by the changes will continue in their current departments.

The county government is hopeful that these changes will lead to improved governance and better outcomes for the county residents.
