Oliver Mathenge has landed a new role weeks after his exit from Nation Media Group.
Mathenge took to his LinkedIn to celebrate his new job, revealing that he had landed a new role as an Editorial and Production consultant.
“I am excited to share that I have kicked off a new role as an Editorial and Production Consultant at Oxygène Marketing Communications Ltd,” he said.
"I look forward to learning new things and offering my expertise to deliver the best for all Oxygène clients," he added.
Mathenge in a post on December 27 revealed that he was exiting NMG after working as a Managing Editor for Audience and Engagement for three years.
In the post, he reflected on his journey of learning, collaboration, and transformation while he was working at NMG.
He said 2024 was a year where he shared insights and ideas on media, digital landscapes, and the evolving technological world.
"During my tenure, I chaired a task force that developed the NMG Artificial Intelligence Framework and represented NMG on the Media Council of Kenya's working group on AI guidelines," he said in December.
He was a member of a technical working group that was tasked by the MCK to develop a media guide on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the country.
On Monday, the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) invited Kenyans to provide feedback on draft guidelines for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the media.
MCK CEO David Omwoyo announced that the council has developed guidelines addressing the use of AI, data, and social media to ensure their ethical and appropriate integration into professional journalism in Kenya.
Omwoyo emphasised that public participation in policy-making is mandated by the constitution.
Before his move to Nation Media Group, he worked at The Star, Kenya as the Digital editor.
Mathenge also spends time training others on digital journalism and digital communications.
