Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has told off former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for referring to Cabinet secretaries as just ‘flower girls’.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the South B modern market, Wahome said while it is his job to criticise the government, Gachagua and all the other critics must do so with respect and decorum.

She went on to say that the Cabinet is comprised of both men and women and that referring to them as flower girls is demeaning to all men who sit in Cabinet.

The Cabinet Secretary reiterated that she has no problem with the former DP.

“The work of a Cabinet Secretary is not politics but I urge those in the opposition, criticise government but remember we have male and female CSs. A name like flower girls is not a good name. Let's respect one another. I have no problem with the former Deputy President and I respect him,” Wahome said.

She was responding to Gachagua, who on Monday, during the launch of the DAP-K party headquarters alleged that he was the only person who could stand up to President William Ruto and tell him when he was wrong in Cabinet.

The former DP further claimed that all the others were ‘flower girls’ whose jobs were to ‘praise and worship’ what the President said, even when it was wrong.

“The government that he leads is one man show. All those ministers you see there are flower girls. I was the only man in Cabinet who could tell him this is not right. It is a praise and worship cabinet and I was the only one who could not fit in,” Gachagua alleged.

CS Wahome reminded Gachagua and all the other critics that the current administration still has over two years to deliver on its mandate.

She added that all they should do is to always speak the truth to the people of Kenya.

“We have work two and a half years of work left before we go to elections and I want them to allow the truth and talk about what is true,” she said.

The CS further urged Kenyans to be smart and be able to differentiate between politics and the truth so that they don’t get lied to by critics if the state.

She insisted that it is time Kenya moves forward as one united country.
