Minority Leader in the National Assembly Junet Mohammed on Tuesday left fellow legislators in stitches after he reacted to what he termed as a privilege to sit on the seat reserved for the Majority Leader in the House.

Speaking when the House resumed its sittings on Tuesday afternoon, Junet described the seat as warmer compared to what he was used to.

"I must say that I am privileged to speak from the seat of the Majority Leader because Mr Speaker even when I sat on the seat it is very warm unlike mine which was very cold Mr Speaker," Junet said amid laughter from the legislators present.

He continued: "I didn't know the seats of Parliament have different warmth Mr Speaker. Mr Speaker I don't foresee myself leaving this seat any time soon, I don't see myself leaving this one any time."

Junet said the court ruling that declared Azimio as the majority party in Parliament should be respected.

He said after the 2022 general elections, Azimio went to court to challenge the results but after the ruling that threw out their petition, Azimio as a coalition respected the ruling.

He said the ruling by the court cannot be taken lightly.

Junet said he went through the ruling on Monday evening, noting that the judges are raising very serious fundamental issues relating to the violation of the constitution.

He said if the matter is not addressed there is going to be what he termed as a constituional crisis in the country.

"I happen to be the Minority leader of as now so today afternoon I just switched seats and I took over the role of Majority Leader," he said.

"I am capable of doing that work Mr Speaker, I have the capacity, I have the qualifications, I have the capabilities, I have the numbers in the House, I have everything that it takes to be the Majority Leader."
