Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and his Kirinyaga counterpart Kamau Murango have been named the most popular senators in 2024, according to a recent survey.
Released by Infotrak on Tuesday, the data shows both senators scoring 52 per cent in popularity.
Murang’a Senator Joel Nyutu and Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah both scored 50 per cent and were ranked 3rd.
Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka followed closely with 49 per cent.
Six senators were less popular, with a score of 42 per cent.
This includes Issa Juma Boy (Kwale), Agnes Kavindu (Machakos), William Wahome (Nyeri), Allan Chesang (Trans Nzoia), Hillary Sigei (Bomet) and Wafula Wakoli (Bungoma).
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna scored 45 per cent.
The survey was based on interviews conducted between October and December 2024, covering all 47 counties with a sample size of 39,795.
The data was collected via Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) and analyzed using SPSS.
A 1-10 Likert scale was used in the survey, with 1 indicating "very poor" and 10 indicating "excellent."
A Likert scale is a type of survey or questionnaire scale used to measure attitudes, opinions or perceptions.
It typically consists of a statement or question, followed by a set of response options that range from one extreme to another.
Respondents select the option that best reflects their feelings or opinions about the statement.
Additionally, the performance index for each senator was computed by averaging Key Performance Indicator (KPI) scores.
