Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome on Wednesday hosted pastor James Ng’ang’a to discuss the government’s affordable housing programme.

The meeting took place at Ardhi House in Nairobi.  

Whome said the engagement is part of the government's continuous efforts to educate and create awareness among Kenyans about the opportunities available through the affordable housing programme agenda.

The Affordable Housing Programme is not just about constructing houses, it is about providing dignity, security, and economic empowerment to millions of Kenyans,” Wahome said.

Wahome was accompanied by the Affordable Housing Board Chief Executive Officer Sheila Waweru.

Waweru provided key insights into the programmes' progress, objectives and impact on Kenyans across the country.

Wahome said the government's efforts align with Article 43 of the Kenyan Constitution which guarantees every Kenyan citizen the right to adequate and affordable housing.

"Our goal is ambitious yet achievable: to deliver one million housing units in the next five years, reaching over 15 million Kenyans directly and indirectly," Wahome said.

She termed the visit by Ng’ang’a as both inspiring and impactful, noting that his interest in understanding the programme reflects the growing awareness and support from various sectors of society.

"During our discussion, I offered to guide him through the process of acquiring affordable housing and educate him on the program’s structure and benefits."
