
A family feud over food turned tragic on Wednesday, when two brothers allegedly turned against their 40-year-old kin, killing him on the spot.
The incident happened in Ainakobi.
According to DCI, early investigations by detectives from Ainakobi revealed that the killing happened on that night.
“Preliminary investigations by Ainabkoi detectives who received the report from the man of the house revealed that, on that fateful night, the father and his three sons were having the available meal for dinner, when a heated argument over what was on the table arose,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigation said in a statement on X.
The DCI further stated that an argument led to the death of the 40-year-old male victim.
“The squabble spiralled out of control,” said the DCI.
DCI stated that the father tried to save his son but he did not succeed.
"The father's hope of resuscitating his son did not succeed when a doctor confirmed the son's death. A kitchen knife through the left side of the chest had robbed a life and a son, "DCI said.
Upon arrival at the scene, the investigators found the weapon used in the killing and a blood-stained t-shirt.
The collected items were preserved and further used as exhibits by the investigators in the form of evidence from the scene.
The two male suspects, aged 25 and 27 have been apprehended by the police and they are being processed for a court appearance.
