Woman stabbed to death in suspected love triangle in Kisumu

The suspect allegedly attacked the deceased after finding her in the company of her husband.

Police in Kisumu have launched a manhunt for a woman suspected of stabbing a 30-year-old M-PESA businesswoman to death in Nyamasaria, Kisumu in an alleged love triangle.

The incident occurred near the Butter Toast boda boda shade along the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway on Friday evening.

The suspect is said to have allegedly attacked the deceased after finding her in the company of her husband, a rider.

According to a police report, witnesses, mostly claimed the deceased had been in a secret love affair with the man for some time.

However, upon discovering them together near the stage, the suspect allegedly confronted the deceased and fatally stabbed her in the chest with a kitchen knife.

She also allegedly slashed her mouth before fleeing into the darkness.

Officers from Kasagam Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kisumu East visited the scene following the incident.

Upon arrival, they found the body of the deceased woman lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds.

The body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) morgue for autopsy.

Locals within Nyamasaria termed the incident as unfortunate, and wondered why someone would lose their life because of suspicion.

"People should not take laws into their own hands. What happened yesterday is uncalled for and unacceptable," Michael Oluoch said.

DCI Kisumu East is leading investigations as the search for the suspect continues.
