Three teams picked as Cannes Young Lions competition wraps up

They'll represent Kenya in digital, design and print creative competition in Cannes, France.

The Cannes Young Lions creative competition Kenya wrapped up on Sunday with the selection of three teams to represent the country in Cannes, France.

The winning teams for the three categories - digital, design and print - are expected to start preparations for the global creative stage.

The Kenyan representatives include team Vibe Tribe (Wanjiru Maina and Kelvin Njoroge) for print; team Olie and Lou (Olive Wangari and Louis Lukata) for design and team Just Bold (George Buliba and Allen Onduru) for digital.

Besides the gold teams, there were those who won silver in the categories.

For print, design and digital, the teams were team Kinjal and Muskaan (Kinjal Sheth and Muskaan Shaikh); team Cool Waters (Sylvia Mwihaki Kimathi and Gathoni Matu) and team Scan Social (Wangu Mwenda and Martin Sultan Tenye) respectively.

The bronze team for print, design and digital were team Schizzo (Mwangi Jabez and Newton Kiogora); team Full Copacity (Kevin Gichimu and Victor Mureithi) and team Sisi (Boniface Gitauwa and Alvin Murimi).

The winners emerged top of 10 teams who entered the competition on Saturday at an event held at EABL headquarters, Nairobi.

There were a total of 60 best professional creatives in the country, all aged 30 years and below.

Speaking during the awarding ceremony, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of The Quollective Africa, Emuron Alemu, noted that the day was all about celebrating all the 60 young creatives.

The title sponsor, Safaricom, noted that the presentations were "amazing".

"It has been amazing. I don't know how you guys did that work in 24 hours. Based on the work I saw today, some can be implemented at Safaricom," Safaricom Director of Brand and Marketing Zizwe Awuor said.

She also commended fellow sponsor, Tusker Lager saying: "Tusker is amazing and an iconic Kenyan brand".

Tusker Marketing Manager Christine Kariuki noted that the creatives' talents remain unmarched.

"You have done an amazing work. You all got your A game, are brilliant and your talent is unmarched, " Kariuki said.
