The third day of President William Ruto’s development tour in Nairobi saw his convoy head to the Uthiru and Dagoretti North and South regions.

The head of state was accompanied by Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson and other leaders.

Ruto inspected the expansion of Nairobi County’s Mutuini Hospital, which is set to undergo a major facelift.

During his address, he promised the residents the completion of the hospital in four months and the official opening in August.

“This facility is crucial for the people of Nairobi, and we will ensure it is completed on time. The contractors will be on-site, and I will be back in August to officially open it,” Ruto confirmed.

Sakaja echoed the commitment to timely completion, emphasizing the county’s dedication to improving healthcare services.

“The hospital’s expansion will ease congestion in major referral hospitals in Nairobi by offering specialized services, including a new ICU, HDU, expanded pharmacy, laboratories, and specialized clinics catering to pediatric, gynecological, and renal care,” Sakaja stated.

Thereafter, the two oversaw the groundbreaking ceremony for the Riruta Modern Market, a project for uplifting small-scale traders.

In Mutuini, traders will benefit from a modern market with safe and structured business spaces, including a daycare center to support mothers balancing business and childcare.

Sakaja reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernizing trade spaces, aligning with his vision of constructing at least 20 new markets across Nairobi.

Further, the duo laid the foundation for the Dagoretti Jitume Centre of Excellence, a significant step toward fostering digital skills and innovation for youths.
