The hearing of a corruption case against a former manager at REREC was on Tuesday adjournment owing to non-service of witness statements.

The case against Noah Oketch Oluoch has now been pushed to April 1 when it will be mentioned to confirm compliance.

Oluoch is a former manager at the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation.

He was in April last year charged with allegedly forging academic papers to secure the top job.

He pleaded not guilty to three counts of forgery before the Milimani anti-corruption chief magistrate court.

He was charged with allegedly fraudulently acquiring salary and allowances amounting to Sh1,445,066 from the agency having been employed using an alleged forged degree certificate.

The charge sheet showed he had allegedly forged a master's degree in business administration and finance from the University of Nairobi.

Oluoch is out on a Sh500,000 bail.

The court had granted him an alternative bond of Sh1 million.

His case has been partly heard by senior principal magistrate Celesa Okore and was due to proceed today.

"I can see the typing of the statements is ongoing and the prosecution is asking for 14 more days to complete and serve the same," the magistrate said.
