Wajir: Police arrest two suspects in petrol station robbery, three still at large

Police officers from Wajir Police Station have arrested two suspects involved in a late-night robbery at a petrol station along Mandera Road.

In a tweet, DCI stated that the suspects, aged 28 and 49, were arrested after officers responded to a distress call.

Upon reaching the scene, they found five robbers dressed in jungle uniforms impersonating police officers.

The gang overpowered the watchman and pump attendant, tied them up, and stole Sh30,000.

As police pursued them, two suspects were caught, while three others escaped and remain at large.

According to the DCI, the arrested suspects were found with a mallet, police and military clothing, and other incriminating items. ,

They are in custody, awaiting court proceedings.

Robbery cases have been on the rise, with similar arrests made in Kisii and Gem, Yala earlier this year.

The three were pursued by police for their alleged involvement in a robbery with violence incident on January 3, 2025, at a timber yard and hardware store near Ulumbi Junction along the Kisumu-Busia highway.

In a similar case in March, the DCI arrested two suspects in the Daraja Mbili estate in Kisii town where the detectives recovered a pistol from the suspects.
