NTSA online portal is back up after temporary downtime

NTSA announces license re-validation exercise for motor vehicle operators

The National Transport and Safety Authority's portal has resumed normal operation after hours of downtime since the early hours of Tuesday.

The authority announced the resumption in an update on X Tuesday evening.

"Dear esteemed clients, we are pleased to inform you that our services are now fully restored. You can access our systems without interruption. We appreciate your patience during the downtime," the notice read.

"Incase of any issues, reach out to us via the official channels. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your continued support," NTSA said.

While notifying the public about the downtime, NTSA said its technical team was working to resolve the issue and restore full functionality soonest possible.

"We will notify you once the system is back on."

The NTSA online portal offers a wide variety of services, including managing vehicle-related permits and licenses, applying for driving licences and tests, renewing licences, and managing vehicle inspections and registrations.

One can also apply for the conversion of foreign and international driving licence, PSV driver's badge, smart driving licence, access vehicle copy of records, new generation number plates as well as administer and update vehicle records, including permits and modifications.

The core functions of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) include advising on road transport and safety, implementing policies, planning and regulating the road transport sector, and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient road transport services.

The advisoty mandate includes advising the government on matters relating to road transport and safety, including policies and regulations.

NTSA also implements policies related to road transport and safety, ensuring they are effectively put into practice.

The authority also plans, manages and regulates the road transport sector, ensuring it operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

The authority can report road traffic violations to the police for action since it lacks prosecutory powers.
