Met: Rains to reduce in most parts of the country this week

The weatherman however noted that occasional rainfall will occur in some areas.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced a significant decrease in rainfall amounts.

However, the weatherman noted that occasional rainfall will occur in some areas.

The weather forecast covers the period from Tuesday, April 1, to Monday, April 7, 2025.

Daytime (maximum) temperatures are expected to exceed 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western region.

Meanwhile, night-time (minimum) temperatures are forecasted to drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley, mornings will have chances of rain, followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms in some areas, with night showers in a few places.

Affected counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

The North-western region (Turkana and Samburu counties) will experience sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons, with partly cloudy nights.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, expect cloudy mornings with sunny intervals, followed by afternoon showers in some areas and night showers.

Affected counties include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi.

In the North-eastern region (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties), expect morning rain, afternoon showers, and partly cloudy nights.

The South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland Tana River counties) will experience sunny intervals, afternoon showers, and partly cloudy nights.

The Coastal region (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and coastal parts of Tana River County) will have showers throughout the day and night.

Last week, rainfall continued over several parts of the country.

There were also isolated heavy rainfall events over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.
