Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Kenyans to remain peaceful even in the face of provocation.

The former DP said Kenyans will sort out political issues during the coming general elections at the ballot.

Speaking during a church service in Nairobi on Sunday, Gachagua said he has chosen to remain peaceful, a commitment to the country as a leader.

"Even now when we get provoked, I want to tell our people to remain peaceful. We shall sort out these issues on the ballot. That is the right way to sort out our issues. Be peaceful, do not be provoked, do not seek revenge, don't fight back. Let them do what they want," Gachagua said.

"I ask you to remain peaceful and obedient to the rule of law even when provoked. I ask them to contain themselves so that we do not burn our country."

The former DP said that he will not allow to be dragged into creating chaos and violence for the country to remain peaceful.

According to the DP, when he was impeached, he asked Kenyans to remain peaceful, a sign that he is a committed leader in the country.

In October, the Senate upheld the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after the hearing.

Gachagua became the first deputy president to be impeached in Kenya's history.

On Sunday, Gachagua attended a Church Service at PCEA Mwiki.

Chaos briefly erupted when unknown individuals attempted to disrupt the Church Service.

The disturbance occurred shortly after Gachagua and his entourage arrived for the Sunday service, as the group attempted to storm the church, temporarily compromising the security of congregants.

Gachagua was quickly shielded by his security team, who took defensive positions to prevent the intruders from gaining access.

During the brief commotion, the group could be heard shouting while trying to force their way in, with church members standing in resistance.

Gunshots were also heard.

“Let us remain calm, please,” the bishop was heard urging the congregation amid the unrest.

Despite the tense moments, calm was restored as security forces dispersed the group, allowing the service to continue without further incident.
