The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has announced a call for applications for its May–July 2025 industrial attachment programme.

The Council noted that it is collaborating with recognised media houses across the country to place successful applicants. The attachment will run for three months, during which trainees will receive a monthly stipend to support their upkeep.

To be eligible, applicants must be final-year students pursuing a degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Digital Communication, or Corporate Communication at a recognized university or college.

They are required to present a recommendation letter from their institution, indicating the period when the attachment is needed.

In addition, applicants must have valid registration for the industrial attachment unit at their college or university.

They must also submit academic transcripts for the current academic year and possess a valid student identification card.

Applicants are also expected to hold a valid MCK Student Press Card for 2025.

Furthermore, they must provide a sample of previous journalistic work, which may include online content or school projects.

Selected students will be placed in accredited media and communication outlets throughout the country, depending on their area of specialisation.

These areas include print, radio or television broadcasting, technical or production work, and digital media. Interested students should submit all the required documents through the online portal: https://bit.ly/43AmgYL, using the subject line Application for MCK Media Industrial Attachment Programme.

Applications must be received on or before Sunday, April 13, 2025.

The Media Council of Kenya has reiterated that it does not solicit payments or recruit through agents or agencies.

Association of Media Women in Kenya (Amwik), commented that it “proudly supports this initiative”.

The media partner affirmed that the programme has consistently equipped journalism and communication students with practical skills, mentorship, and exposure to prepare them for the dynamic media landscape.
