Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now claims that her life is in danger after she was allegedly summoned to appear before the DCI in Kiambu County.
Speaking outside Kiambu Police headquarters, Wamuchomba said that as a woman leader, she demands to be protected.
She insisted that it was her constitutional right to be protected.
“My life is in danger, and I need to be protected as a woman leader in Kiambu County, and I demand to be protected because I have the privilege given to me by the constitution of Kenya,” she said.
The MP was at the police headquarters to honour the alleged summon, on Monday.
She, however, noted that after talking with senior officers at the police headquarters, it was established that the person who claimed to have summoned her does not work at the police station.
Wamuchomba said after talking to senior officers in charge of investigations in the county and the region, they assured him that the said individual who had summoned him is not a staff.
“The DCIO, the CCIO, and the person in charge of Criminal Investigation in the region called me this morning and told me they have nothing to do with the summon. He even said he suspects those are the people abducting innocent people here in Kiambu, and we must know who they are,” she said.
The Githunguri MP said that her bodyguard was recalled, insisting that her life is in the hands of the government should anything happen to her.
“I demand the reinstatement of my security with immediate effect.”
On Saturday, Wamuchomba claimed that police in Kiambu had summoned her to record a statement, an action she believed was politically motivated.
The MP made the claim on her verified X account, suggesting that the summons could be linked to political tensions in her constituency, where she claims residents have refused to be coerced by “fake promises.”
“The County Criminal Investigations Officer, Kiambu, has summoned me via a telephone call because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialized,” Wamuchomba wrote.
