Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is set to start his six-day tour in the Coast region.

The tour, which will begin on Monday, April 7, and end on Saturday, April 12, is dubbed “Jukwaa la Usalama Working Tour”.

The key objectives of the tour include assessing the security situation in the Coast region and gathering feedback from Wananchi on their satisfaction with citizen services.

Murkomen will also engage with leaders, regional and county security teams, National Government Administration Officers, and peace committees on strategies to enhance security, peace and cohesion.

The CS will evaluate the level of disaster preparedness in response to rising climate change-driven extreme weather conditions and interact with security personnel on the front lines combating land and maritime threats.

He will also conduct a spot check on the Mobile ID Registration rollout.

Duale to launch NHIF pending medical claims verification committee

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale will today officiate the NHIF Pending Medical Claims Verification Committee.

The event will be held at Afya House, 7th Floor Boardroom.

The committee's primary role will be to scrutinise and verify all pending claims accumulated between July 1, 2022, and September 30, 2024.

The committee is tasked with ensuring that claims are accurately verified and processed, while also identifying any fraudulent or corrupt activities.

The committee will be chaired by James Masiro Ojee, with Anne Wamae serving as vice-chairperson.

Members of the committee are Edward Kiplimo Bitok, Meshack Matengo, Meboh Atieno Awour, Tom Nyakaba, Catherine Karori Bosire, Paul Wafula, Catherine Mungania, James Oundo, Jackline Mukami Njiru, Judith Awinja and David Dawe.

The committee will also be supported by a secretariat headed by Peter Kitheka, along with several other staff members, including Shawn Mogaka, Consolata Ogot, Emmanuel Ayodi Lusigi, Halima Yussuf and Wilbert Kurgat.

The committee will serve for a period of three months, starting from the date of the Gazette notice - March 28, 2025.

National Assembly committee on defence to meet for various approvals

The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations will meet from 10 am to 5 pm at the Mini-Chamber, County Hall, 1st Floor.

On the agenda is the approval hearing of the nominee for PS State Department for EAC Affairs Caroline Wanjiru Karugu.

Members will also hold approval hearings for Peter Tum - Ambassador Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Susan Nakhumincha Wafula - Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Kenya to the UN Habitat, Nairobi.

Others hearings are for James Buyekana Muhati - Consul-General, Guangzho, People's Republic of China, and Abdi Dubat Fidhow - Consul-General, Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.
