Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has responded to remarks by former Public Service CS Justin Muturi that he was among leaders who spend too much time at State House because there is plenty of tea.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Duale dismissed Muturi's remarks, saying that there was nothing wrong with hanging around power.
He insisted that it is also not a crime, adding that if he had the opportunity to meet the President every time he completed his work before retreating to his home, he would be a happy person.
“That is him, and what is wrong if I hang around State House? It's the seat of power. Is there a crime? If he didn’t have the privilege to hang around State House, he should not be very envious of me hanging around State House, and that is very pedestrian.
“If I had an opportunity to hang around State House after my work at Afya House, before I go home, I see the boss, I will go and sleep very well,” Duale said.
He added that, in any case, no person would throw away the chance to hang around power.
Muturi, in a recent interview on Nation FM, claimed that there were leaders who frequently hang around State House.
He singled out Duale, saying his presence at State House was a sign of his closeness to the country's top power.
In a tell-it-all interview, the former CS revealed details that led to his fallout with President William Ruto and eventual dismissal from the Cabinet.
He had become a critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration and abandoned Cabinet meetings in protest of abductions and extrajudicial killings.
The Health CS noted that such comments were "very pedestrian" and called on leaders to focus on issues that matter to the public rather than engaging in political theatrics.
He emphasized the need for public figures to deliver real solutions to the people they represent.
