In Summary

  • You will hear more and more people criticise the day as intended for the gullible and the weak-willed.
  • The fact that many who criticise Valentine's are either single or cash-strapped is a telling coincidence.

Valentine's Day is upon us. It's that time of year when guys cannot be excused for not going all out for their significant other. It appears that many people have worked out how to approach the day.

You will hear more and more people criticise the day as intended for the gullible and the weak-willed. The fact that many who criticise Valentine's are either single or cash-strapped is a telling coincidence.

Men who are struggling financially will wax poetic about how expensive it is to satisfy a woman. They would argue that it is useless to waste money on a woman who will ultimately be unappreciative of your efforts. It makes sense, I suppose.

Of course, the city won't be covered with red paint. Wearing red is typically met with sceptical looks and seen as being naive or misinformed. It is considered as immaturity—yearning for romance yet knowing it won't happen in 2024. Those who are single, have recently broken up with someone, or have never experienced true love are the most sceptical.

But is it inappropriate to show your girlfriend affection on Valentine's Day? It is flawless in every way. In actuality, she deserves that more than anything. You need to search far and wide for something lovely and expensive for her.

You might just have to do it once a year. Women can occasionally ask for too much, but if one chooses the right course, and is supported by the right poetry, they may be willing to accept less. It's the thought that counts.

The problem with guys is that they occasionally pursue women who are out of their reach. One should cut their coat according to their cloth. I implore the guys who are complaining to pursue women who are within their grasp.

Taking a loan to entertain a woman is reckless. It is excessive to take a bank loan to finance a wedding. It would be stupid to take a loan to buy her a present. But it's not unreasonable to give her a proper Valentine's Day present.

Therefore, if you're single, let go of the jealousy. Let the lovers carry on. Spare them your pointless tirade. Everyone acting like a relationship expert by ignoring Valentine's Day needs to stop.

I've come to the realisation that women are like restaurants, you visit the ones you can afford.
