Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka

Article By DANIEL OROGO

I think Mt Kenya people can be sympathetic to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka but he cannot win over the region. What Kalonzo is trying to do is gain from Gachagua’s misfortune.

He is trying to get some political mileage out of the misfortune. I believe that Central Kenya, in that kind of political instability, will soon find their political footing and they will require someone to support them and not for them to support someone.

The history of Central Kenya, and with the recent political developments, shows they have learnt they can never trust someone else.

I believe the whole political gravitation in Central Kenya is they are yearning for someone who will come out with a Mt Kenya ticket, or rather the semblance of a kingpin, and then they will rally their political friends and allies like Kalonzo to support that ticket.

Central Kenya will not – mark my words – support anyone, because with the recent developments they are saying if that is what their vote can do for them then let them remain with it, even if they lose.

Kalonzo will just be called upon to support their proposed ticket. Mt Kenya will not play second fi ddle to anyone. They have learnt their lesson the hard way.

Kalonzo is eyeing the wrong political target. He shouldn’t have gravitated towards that political misfortune. What Kalonzo ought to be doing is finding his footing in the current broad-based government, because there was a clear opportunity for him to gain from Raila’s absence if the latter goes to the African Union.

There is so much for him to gain from the broad-based government than from the other side. Holding all factors constant, Kalonzo should have been the other senior-most politician shaping the future of Kenya in trying to get a government of national unity.

I am being as politically realistic as possible that the future of Kalonzo outside government has never existed. He is a pro-government politician. He performs well when he is in government.
