Making a sponge cake is very easy, you only need eggs, sugar, and flour as the main ingredients.
Ingredients
- 150 grams of Butter
- 4 medium eggs
- Grated lemon skin
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 200 grams of sifted all-purpose flour
- Sugar
- ¼ cup of milk
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C, then grease down your baking tin.
Step 2
Using a medium-sized bowl and whisk, mix the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Step 3
Break the eggs into a bowl and beat lightly, then add milk. Combine then add little by little the butter/sugar mix, beating well after each addition.
Step 4
Add the flour little by little to the egg and butter mix, folding gently then add the lemon rind and combine.
Step 5
Pour the mixture into the baking and bake for 45 to 50 minutes until firm to the touch or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Step 6
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes, then put it on the rack to cool. Grate the remaining lemon zest and enjoy.
Serve with a preferred beverage or cold milk.
