Nairobi City Stars chairman Jonathan Jackson and coach Sanjin Alagic have welcomed the club’s promotion to the Kenyan Premier League.

"I'm very delighted and proud of our achievements as National Super League champions and promotion to KPL, the place where Nairobi City Stars belong,” said Alagic.

“I want to congratulate my players for the amazing job they did throughout this season, they are most deserving of this success.”

Alagic paid tribute to club chairman Jonathan Jackson, CEO Patrick Korir, team coordinator Samson Otieno and Jonathan Jackson Foundation CEO Mwenesi Musalia for supporting the team.

“This achievement was the result of hard work and dedication and would not have been possible were it not for the support from our owner Jonathan, CEO Patrick, Samson, Mwenesi, my coaching staff, our fans and all people in the club who believed in us,” added the tactician.

Jackson said: "I am totally delighted with our efforts. We started at 14th and went on to be the champions. I want to thank the CEO and our coaches for their hard work and professional management."

"I also want to thank all members of the club, the technical bench and of course the players. We only achieved this fabulous result as a team.”

On Thursday, FKF declared Nairobi City Stars the NSL champions. Bidco also gained promotion to the top tier league while third-placed Vihiga United will play in a promotion/relegation playoff against Kisumu All Stars. Administration Police and St Joseph’s Youth were relegated.

 

According to the Federation’s general secretary Barry Otieno, Mwatate United and Silibwet FC were promoted to the NSL while MCF and Soy United which finished second in FKF Division One will meet in a one-off playoff to decide the third team to gain promotion.

Masinde Murilo Murilo University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Raiply, St Joseph’s Youth Academy, Makueni Nunguni, Strathmore University and Green Berets were relegated to FKF Division Two.
