Action between Kitale RFC and JKUAT Cougars

Kitale RFC booked a place in the Kenya Rugby Union  Championship qualifier semis after a comprehensive 27-8 win over Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s (JKUAT) Cougars.

Kitale, under coach Ben Amboko will now face Kabarak University in the semis. Kabarak University saw off Technical University of Mombasa 38-29 in Nakuru to sail to the semi-finals.

Yesterday, coach Amboko remained confident his team will be back to the KRU Championship after one season in the Nationwide League.

“We are going all out to win. We don’t want to take chances against Kabarak University. They gave us a tough challenge when we met during the regular season so we respect them. We are not going to relax because we won both matches against them,” he added.  The game will be played at St Anthony’s Boys Kitale on Saturday.

Shamas Foundation will clash with Daystar University at Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) grounds in Nairobi in another semi final. Shamas Foundation saw off Maseno University 22-0 while Daystar were awarded a walkover after CITAM Kisumu failed to provide a secure playing field in Kisumu.

Two semi final winners will qualify for the KRU championship to replace relegated Kisii RFC and Eldoret RFC.
