Golf tournament kicks off in Kitale

The second leg of the 2022 Kenya Seed Classic Golf series teed off at par 73 Kitale Club on Saturday morning.

The two-day 36-hole event attracted over 100 players from Western Kenya, Nairobi, North Rift, Nyahururu and Uganda.

Vitus Omwandho, who carried the day in the leg in 2005, was high in spirit.

Speaking to the Star at the Kitale Club, renowned Eldoret Club pro, Andrew Chelogoi, said he had come to test his might at the Kitale edition, which he considers as one of the toughest courses in the whole country.

James Kimotho, the Head of Commercial, Space and Style, had a nine-hole game in the course on Thursday to prepare him for the gruelling weekend competition.

Kenya Seed Company Managing Director Fred Oloibe, who also engaged in the tough contest, will award the ultimate winner of the championships with a heifer on Sunday night.

John Njiraini, the former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner-General, was hopeful he will carry the day.

The Windsor Golf and Country Club player believed he was the 'anointed' golfer who will take home the competition's top prize on Sunday.
