Gaspo captain Vivian Akinyi has called for consistency if the Gatundu-based side is to fight for the Kenya Women's Premier League gong.
The Kiambu County side are third in WPL standings with 22 points—nine adrift of leaders Vihiga Queens after 11 matches.
Despite losing just once, inconsistency has been the team's main undoing.
The team has posted four draws, which have reduced their chances of challenging three-time champions, Vihiga for the title.
Stakeholders are convinced the title is Vihiga's to lose since no team has ever failed to wrap the crown after opening such a huge gap in the league's history.
Akinyi is, however, bullish that Gaspo have not given up on the title and are ready to turn around their fortunes. The second leg starts next month.
"We just need to get together a string of good results in order to rekindle our hopes of not only a respectable finish but also give a stab at the title. Anybody ruling us out should do so at their own peril," she said.
Akinyi, however, has her fingers crossed that runner-way leaders Vihiga will slip up at some point and Gaspo will catch up.
"With football, expect anything. Sometimes results don't go your way however best you play. We need to concentrate on our performance because you never know what might happen."
Akinyi has captained Gaspo for the last three years. Her twin sister Sharon Aluoch a defender by trade also plays for Gaspo.
