Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has backed goalkeeper Jacob Osano to turn professional in the future despite failing to join Ethiopian Premier League side, Ethiopian Coffee (Bunna).
Muyoti said: “His time to strike it big internationally will come. In the meantime, we welcome him back in our fold and urge him to refocus on the tasks ahead of us.”
Osano returned to the country after taking time off in search of greener pastures at Ethiopian Coffee.
Osano, who made his Kenyan Premier League bow in the 2021/22 season, was hopeful of securing a place in Ethiopia but returned to the country after slightly over a week.
City Stars chief executive officer Patrick Korir said: “He had permission from the club to head out to Ethiopia and try his luck but he is back with us after he failed to get a chance.”
Korir added: “He had a stellar first season in the Kenyan top flight and went on to register 13 clean sheets. That made him a man on demand and was scouted by a number of local and foreign clubs.”
In the ended 2021/22 FKF Premier League season, Osano featured in 29 of 34 games, clocking 2,610 minutes.
In the upcoming season, Osano will compete with Stephen Njunge and Elvis Ochoro for playtime in the upcoming season.
