It was a meeting of world's greats on Sunday when former World Rally champion Ott Tanak visited world record holders Eliud Kipchoge and Faith Kipyegon at Global Communications training camp in Kaptagat, Uasin Goshu county.

Tanak, who won the 2019 WRC title, said meeting Kipchoge had him learn a lot about the life of a professional runner, observing that he drew a lot of similarities between the two sports.

"Meeting with the world record holder today has excited me. We have shared our experiences and we realised that running is almost the same as rallying since the end product is what people see but there is a large group behind the scenes," said Tanak.

He observed that sports is a unifying factor that will, once again, bring together some of the greatest athletes from across the world at this weekend’s World Safari Rally Championships in Naivasha, Kenya.

Tanak, who was accompanied by his team, led by navigator Pierre Louis, also interacted with Kipyego, the world record holder over 1500m and 5000m, and multiple world champion Geoffrey Kamworor among others.

"It's great to host World Rally Championships drivers at our camp, where we have shared a lot and it has really inspired us as athletes," said Kipchoge.

"We compared notes where we all agreed that trust is crucial in both sports and that is what a human being is expected in life to practice," said Kipchoge.

They also visited Chebulbul Primary School, which neigbours the training camp, and where Kipchoge has promised to construct a modern classroom.
