Masinde Murilo University of Science and Technology (MMUST) host Impala on Saturday as they seek to bounce back following last week’s defeat to South Coast Pirates in the KRU Championship.
MMUST fell 17-8 and coach John Asila exuded confidence his side will emerge victorious against Impala.
He attributed last week’s loss against Pirates at Seacrest International School to fatigue.
“We traveled to Diani for two days and that contributed to the loss but we are ready to bounce back against Impala,” said Asila. “Impala are a very good side with experienced players.”
He said he would make about five changes in the starting lineup.
“We still have five more games in the regular season so we have to rotate players,” he added.
Last weekend's loss does not dent his hopes of a top-two finish in the regular season.
“After four games, we are fifth on the log. We still have a game at hand so we still have a chance of sealing a home semi-final. However, we must target bonus-point wins,” he noted.
Impala are second on the log with 23 points and are unbeaten in five games. South Coast Pirates lead the standings with 23 points and meet Daystar Falcons on Saturday at Daystar University in Athi River.
Mombasa RFC host United States International University - Africa at Khamisi High School as the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s (JKUAT) Cougars welcome University of Eldoret’s Trojans in Juja.
Bottom side Mean Machine will seek their first win of the season when they welcome Kabarak University at the University of Nairobi grounds.
