Officials say Kenyatta takes charge with immediate effect in preparing the team ahead of the season

Kakamega Homeboyz has appointed Ken Kenyatta as the new head coach after he signed a one year deal.

"We are pleased to announce the arrival of coach Kenneth Kenyatta as our new head coach. Kenyatta takes charge with immediate effect in preparing the team ahead of the season." The club announced this through their social media handles.

Kenyatta was clubless after being suspended on March 10, 2024, over a series of poor performances in the league and the early exit from the FKF cup.

He was later sacked under unclear circumstances with his assistant Jackson Gatheru replacing him.

Kenyatta's appointment comes barely a week after Veteran coach Edward Manoah was appointed to head the Ingo side on an interim basis. The CAF A licence holder replaces Bernard Odhiambo who left Homeboyz for KCB on July 18, 2024.

Kenyatta joined Talanta in 2020 from the defunct Ushuru inspiring the Communications Authority of Kenya-sponsored team to gain promotion to the top tier the following year.

Homeboyz who won the 2023 FKF cup under Benard Odhiambo finished the FKF 2023-24 league at position eight with 48 points from 34 matches.

Kenyatta will be assisted by Dancun Omondi, while goalkeeping coach John Waw retains his position while Boniface Imbenzi is the team manager.

The former Sony sugar goalkeeper who was part of the club’s FKF cup-winning team in 2023, had ditched the Bukhungu side after the expiry of his contract last month.

Kenyatta who played as a goalkeeper for Shabana FC and AFC Leopards will be mandated to change Abana Beingo's fortunes into title contenders having come close in the 2021-22 season by finishing second to Tusker under Bernard Mwalala.
