Kenya Police Bullets miss ticket to Caf Champions League

Kenya Police Bullets failed to qualify for the 2024-2025 CAF Champions League after succumbing to the Central Bank of Ethiopia 1-0 in the final match played at the Abebe Bikila Stadium.

The local champions, who previously lost 2-1 to CBE in the group stage, were vying for the sole ticket to the prestigious continental competition.

Senaf Wakuma scored the lone goal for the winners in the 79th minute.  Uganda's Kawempe Muslim Ladies beat Tanzania Simba 2-0 in the play-off to finish third.

Coach Beldine Odemba's Police Bullets beat defending champions Simba Queens 3-2 in the semis while Ethiopia CBE trounced Kawempe Muslim 2-1 to reach the final.

Harambee Starlets’ captain, Aneddy Kundu, played a crucial role throughout the tournament to catapult Kenyans to second place.

Despite the loss, the club’s executive chairman, Nyale Munga, praised the team’s efforts considering they were making their debut in the event. 

“We are now East Africa’s powerhouse. This unwavering determination makes Police Bullets FC a team to watch,” Munga said.

Police Bullets netted five goals in their campaign, a testament to their attacking capabilities, but ultimately fell short in their bid to qualify for the Caf Champions League.
