Golfers at this year’s Magical Kenya Open have more than glory to play for. One perfect shot could land them a brand-new BYD Atto 3 Electric Vehicle (EV), courtesy of CFAO Mobility Kenya and LOXEA.
The high-stakes hole-in-one prize, valued at Sh8.2 million, adds an electrifying incentive to the competition. The tournament, which tees off on Thursday at Muthaiga Golf Club, has attracted over 150 players from over 30 countries.
Since joining the European Tour in 2019, the tournament has cemented Kenya’s status as a premier golfing destination.
LOXEA managing director Jennifer Kinyoe underscored the event’s growing stature.
“We are proud to partner with the Magical Kenya Open, a tournament that has become a hallmark of excellence and inclusivity in the golfing world,” she noted.
The Magical Kenya Open, first held in 1967, has grown to become one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s most prestigious sporting events.
Last year, Dutchman Darius Van Driel claimed his first career win on the DP World tour after shooting 14 under-par for a two-shot victory.
Kinyoe added: “This is not just any prize. It is a symbol of our commitment to a greener, cleaner future. It’s a testament to the spirit of challenge and success that we all strive for in both business and sports.”
Kenya Open sponsorship director Ronald Meru, noted: “We are delighted to welcome CFAO Mobility Kenya as a sponsor of the Magical Kenya Open.”
“Their contribution elevates the tournament’s prestige and adds a thrilling incentive for our golfers. The chance to win the BYD Atto 3 will undoubtedly heighten the excitement at this year’s event and we look forward to witnessing history in the making on Hole No. 13.”
Meanwhile, the tournament has received a Sh5m from Safaricom.
Chief Executive Peter Ndegwa said: “As we mark 25 years of transforming lives, we continue to be at the forefront of supporting sports in Kenya. For over a decade, we have backed this event, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing talent and growing golf in the country.”
Safaricom will power the event with highspeed internet connectivity, deploying a Cell on Wheels (COW) to support live broadcasts, 4G-enabled scoring devices and airtime for seamless communication.
“We are excited to showcase our superior 4G and 5G connectivity to Kenyans and the world at the 2025 Magical Kenya Open and wish all our Kenyan players all the best,” Ndegwa added.
Meru said: “Safaricom, as one of the largest
telecommunications companies in East Africa,
has been integral in supporting the growth of
sports, including golf. We are immensely grateful
for their unwavering support and long-standing
partnership over the years.”
