The stage is set for a crucial Kenyan Premier League encounter as Posta Rangers prepare to take on Tusker at Dandora Stadium tomorrow.

Posta head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo believes his charges have honed their claws sufficiently to slug the Ruaraka-based brewers.

The mailmen, currently positioned 13th on the log, have undergone a remarkable transformation since the beginning of February when Omollo took charge.

Their solitary defeat against Gor Mahia at Kenyatta Stadium has since been eclipsed by a series of commendable performances.

They rekindled their spark with a 2-1 win over Shabana at the Kenyatta stadium, before sharing the spoils in a 2- 2 draw against Kariobangi Sharks and a 1-1 draw against Mara Sugar.

A gruelling 2-1 win against Police has bolstered their spirits, setting the stage for an intense showdown against Tusker.

Omollo radiated confidence in an interview leading up to the eagerlyawaited thriller. “We are doing well judging by the positive results we have registered in our recent matches and we intend to keep up with the momentum on Friday when we face Tusker,” he asserted.

His ambitions extend beyond avoiding relegation as he envisions a top-five finish for his squad— a feat that would signify a remarkable turnaround in their fortunes. However, Omollo is acutely aware of the challenges that lie ahead.

“We must remember we are playing against a very strong side and we should do all we can to avoid any errors that might give our opponents some leverage in the clash,” he cautioned.

On the opposite side of the pitch stands Tusker FC, a club with a rich history and a reputation for excellence.

However, their recent form has been less than stellar. The beermakers suffered a shock defeat to Nairobi United in the Round of 32 FKF Cup, a result that has undoubtedly shaken their confidence.

Head coach Charles Okere remains resolute amidst the adversity, stating: “Setbacks are part of the competition. We have not lost in five matches and this speaks to the quality we have and the form we are currently enjoying.”

His belief in the squad’s potential is unwavering and he recognises the need for improvement in their attacking prowess to convert draws into victories.

Tusker’s recent run in the KPL has been characterised by frustration; four consecutive draws against Gor Mahia, KCB, Police and Bandari have left them yearning for a return to winning ways.

The solitary goal scored in their draw against Shabana on February 26 highlights the pressing need for a more potent offensive strategy.

Meanwhile, the narrative of the day is not confined to the clash between Posta Rangers and Tusker. Another intriguing match-up looms as Sofapaka prepares to take on Nairobi City Stars.

Sofapaka head coach Ezekiel Akwana, guiding his team from a respectable ninth position on the log, is equally determined to break into the top five.

With 30 points to their name, Sofapaka’s aspirations are fueled by a desire to elevate their standing in the league.
