MASINDE Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) will not underrate Zetech University Oaks in the KRU Championship semifinals, coach John Asila has said.
Oaks booked their slot in the last four after a hard-fought 7-3 win over Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s Cougars on Saturday at Zetech University Mang’u Campus.
Masinde Muliro booked a home semi final after winning the KRU Championship regular season, where they beat Zetech Oaks 23-20.
Asila is cautious after Masinde Muliro lost 12-11 to Impala at the same stage last year.
Impala went on to clinch promotion to the Kenya Cup.
“The loss against Impala is still fresh in our minds. Despite playing at home, we shall not underrate Zetech. They are a good side,” said Asila.
Daystar University Falcons will host the Catholic University of East Africa’s Catholic Monks in the other semifinal. Monks advanced after a 28-14 win over former Kenya Cup side Homeboyz in Karen on Saturday.
Falcons finished second in the KRU Championship league phase and will be playing in the semis for the third consecutive year.
The semifinal winners will seal qualification to the 2025/26 Kenya Cup season to replace relegated Mwamba and South Coast Pirates.
In the Kenya Cup women’s play off, Rongo University beat NYS Ladies 36-12 while Impala defeated Northern Suburbs 31-0.
