Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) received a major boost as three of their teams gained promotion to the 2022 Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League.

KBF fixtures secretary, Joseph Amoko, confirmed that Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks and Zetech University Titans will play in the men's top-tier cadre.

Joining the women category for the new season beginning March is Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUATS) Lynx,  coached by Mary Chepkoi.

“We have worked hard, losing only one game in the regular season to Eldonets away in double overtime. But we are now ready and I am confident of doing well,” noted Chepkoi.

The promotion of the three teams bring to 10,  the total number of varsity sides in the top tier. Those already in the top tier are Strathmore University Blades, University of Nairobi Terrorists, and Kenyatta University Pirates.

Zetech University Sparks, University of Nairobi Dynamites, ANU Panthers, Strathmore University Swords, and Kenyatta University Oryx are also in the women’s premier category.

Amoko revealed that the play-off finals other than the men’s premier, will tip-off this weekend with matches in Eldoret and Nairobi. Eldonets, the other team that gained promotion in the women league, will host Division One rival JKUAT.

Another Eldoret side, Shoot-4-Life, will also be at home to JKUAT Stray Cats in the men’s Division Two finals while Zetech University meet ANU at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium in the women's Division One final.
