Hit Squad head coach Benjamin Musa is confident his team will perform well at the upcoming Africa Boxing Championships.
Musa believes his team is ready to make a statement on the international stage, thanks to meticulous training and a dedication to excellence.
He made the remarks in an exclusive interview moments after introducing a strong 12-member Hit Squad.
“We have spent countless hours preparing the team for the challenges we will face at the tournament,” he stated.
The experienced tactician, who also serves as the Boxing Federation of Kenya’s national treasurer, emphasised the importance of physical conditioning, technical skills and mental toughness.
“Through a mix of drills, sparring sessions and motivation, the coaching unit instilled a hunger and determination to succeed,” he said.
He stated that his team’s poor performance at the recent international tournaments will not dampen their spirits, pledging their unwavering dedication to the sport.
Musa believes his squad is extremely talented and the upcoming Africa Boxing Championships will provide an excellent opportunity for them to demonstrate their abilities.
“With a mix of experienced fighters and emerging talents, we are aiming for nothing less than victory,” he said.
“I’m satisfied with the squad given the meticulous process that went into selection.
“These are the best we have in the country and we believe they have the potential to achieve more,” he stated.
Hit Squad captain Boniface Mugunde said they are determined to make a lasting impression on the international stage by showcasing their talent and inspiring future boxing champions.
“We believe with the right guidance and support, we can realise our full potential,” he stated.
“All we need to do is embrace the values of discipline, perseverance, and resilience that boxing instils in its practitioners. We shall carry these values with us to the ring,” he said.
Experienced boxer Elizabeth Andiego said they are ready for the task ahead.
