After 25 remarkable years at the helm of Radio Africa, our chairman, Kiprono Kittony, is stepping down. As we bid him farewell, we do so not with sadness, but with profound gratitude for the incredible legacy he leaves behind.

To say that Kip—as he is fondly known—has shaped Radio Africa would be an understatement. He has shaped lives, inspired careers, and redefined what a Kenyan media house can become. When Kip took the reins, Radio Africa was a modest venture with big dreams.

Today, it stands as a formidable conglomerate—a testament to his visionary leadership, sharp business acumen and unwavering commitment to excellence.

He did not simply manage the company; he grew it, nurtured it and positioned it as a powerhouse in the Kenyan media landscape.

Under his stewardship, Radio Africa became a household name, a trusted source of news and entertainment and a beacon of innovation in an ever-evolving industry.

But Kip’s influence extends far beyond boardrooms and balance sheets. For the hundreds of employees who have walked through our doors over the years, he has been more than a chairman—he has been a pillar of support and a source of inspiration.

Many of us did not come to Radio Africa just for a paycheck. We came because we believed in the business, we believed in the vision of its founding fathers, and we believed in the leader at the helm.

Every institution takes after its leader, and Radio Africa has taken after Kip—resilient, forward-thinking and deeply committed to purpose over profit.

Kip is not only a shrewd businessman but also an exceptionally smart and solution oriented leader. His interests span far beyond media—he has left his mark on hospitality, agro-business and technology—yet he always made time for Radio Africa and its people.

He led with clarity, compassion and a rare ability to see opportunity where others saw obstacles. In every challenge, he sought solutions.

In every setback, he found a way forward. Perhaps what many will remember most is his ability to motivate.

At our Christmas parties and company gatherings, Kip’s speeches were never just formalities.

They were moments of connection—times when he reminded us of the company’s direction, reaffirmed our shared vision and encouraged us to believe in ourselves and in the journey we were on together.

He made us feel seen, valued and part of something bigger than ourselves. Today, we say thank you—to a leader who gave us the chance to earn a meaningful living, to grow professionally, and to be part of an extraordinary story.

Thank you for taking Radio Africa from humble beginnings to the great institution it is today. Thank you for your vision, your dedication and your heart.

Kip, you have left an indelible mark on Radio Africa and on Kenyan media as a whole. As you begin this new chapter, we celebrate you, we honour you and wish you nothing but the very best. You will always be part of the Radio Africa family
