Murang’a Seals coach Vincent Nyaberi believes the battle for the National Super League (NSL) title will go down to the wire despite his side's 1-1 draw against Kibera Black Stars.

Speaking ahead of their penultimate game against log leaders Shabana at St Sebastian Park, Nyaberi said they are targeting three points against his former employers.

Shabana and Murang’a Seals have already qualified for the Kenya Premier League and are battling for the NSL title. Shabana lead the log with 70 points while Seals is on 65 points with two games to go

“We still have two games against Shabana and Gusii FC and all is not lost. This title will be decided on the last day. At the moment, my focus is to win the game against log leaders Shabana on Sunday,” said Nyaberi.

Nyaberi complained of poor officiating in their game against Kibera Black Stars. Walter Juma scored for Kibera Black Stars while Brian Juma equalised for Murang’a Seal through a penalty in the game that was played at Ligi Ndogo grounds.

Shabana’s Sammy Okoth said it will be unfair for Shabana not to win the NSL title having topped the table for the better part of the season.

“The draw between Murang’a and Kibera put us in pole position to lift the title but we have to win our two remaining games,” said the tactician.

He added: “The game against Murang’a Seals will be tough because two teams are fighting for the NSL title but I believe we are equal to the task and will bring the NSL title to Kisii.”

The fight for the NSL/KPL promotion playoff slot also intensified with third-placed Mara Sugar beating Vihiga United 1-0 at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County. Philemon Nyakwaka scored the lone goal in the 23rd minute when he converted a penalty.
