Nairobi City Stars' new signing Brian Opinde is raring to go following his arrival from Eldoret-based Langas Super Stars.
The centre-back was scouted during the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament in Kisumu.
“One day I was a Division II player and the next, I was at City Stars. This is a dream come true and I wish to make the most out of this rare opportunity,” he said.
“I received a good welcome and training has been good. Through the guidance of the coaches, I have quickly adapted to the team’s philosophy and approach.”
Opinde was left out the 0-0 league opener against Bidco United but made the team in the 1-0 loss to Mara Sugar as an unused substitute.
“The two games gave me a glimpse of the top light. The team played very well and I, as much as I did not play, picked lots of lessons. When the time comes and it’s my turn (to play) I’ll be ready,” he said.
Opinde was one of four new players alongside Andre Kalama, midfielder James SSemambo and left-back Stephen Bulugu.
Meanwhile, winger Gilbert Abala targets an improved season at Simba wa Nairobi.
“Last season was my first in the Kenyan topflight. The few games I featured in gave me the perfect orientation. My work is now cut out and I know what I need to do,” he said.
“I am putting in the right shift in training each day to improve my game. My efforts will be reflected in the league once I get it right during training. I want to score and assist."
