Tusker FC hope to pick their first three points in 2025 when they face a Shabana side that thrives on home turf at the intimidating Gusii Stadium.
The brewers, sitting second on the log with 27 points after 14 matches— level on points with league leaders KCB but trailing on goal difference—will need to be at their best to navigate what has been a daunting hunting ground for visiting teams.
Shabana have turned Gusii Stadium into a fortress this season, suffering just two losses ( 1-0 defeats to Nairobi City Stars and Sofapaka) and one draw ( 1-1 against Posta Rangers).
Their five home wins include a 2-0 triumph over table-toppers KCB and a 1-0 victory against Kenya Police FC.
Despite sitting ninth on the table with 20 points from 15 games, Shabana have shown their mettle at home and will be eager to bounce back from their recent 1-0 loss to Mathare United on December 21, 2024.
Last season, honours were shared in their encounters with Shabana winning 1-0 in the first leg and Tusker responding with a commanding 4-0 victory in the return fixture.
However, Tusker head coach Charles Okere remains upbeat, drawing confidence from their solid foundation and impressive performances in the early part of the season.
“We have laid a strong foundation and I am proud of the resilience and commitment shown by our team,” Okere said.
“We are motivated to come back stronger, more focused and ready to achieve even greater success in 2025.”
The brewers closed out 2024 on a high, securing consecutive victories—a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bidco United and an emphatic 3-1 triumph against Posta Rangers.
Okere also took a moment to appreciate the unwavering support of the Tusker faithful.
“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our fans, players, staff, and everyone else for their support. 2024 brought its fair share of challenges and countless moments of growth and learning.”
Club captain Charles Momanyi echoed his coach’s optimism, underlining their ambitions for silverware.
“Our ambition as a team remains
one: to fight for the league title and
the FKF Cup. We will strive to do
our best and give every effort to
achieve this,” he said.
