Iraki stars at NCBA golf series at VetLab Sports Club

Iraki, playing off handicap 6, emerged the overall gross winner of the tournament with an impressive score of 76 gross.

The sixth leg of the 2023 NCBA golf series at VetLab Sports Club on June 17th June marked a momentous occasion as the club celebrated its centenary milestone.

The event saw an impressive turnout of 252 golfers who showcased their skills and competed fiercely for top honors.

Home player junior Maina Iraki, playing off handicap 6, emerged the overall gross winner of the tournament with an impressive score of 76 gross.

In the men's gross category, Chrispine Owuor, playing off a handicap of 4, claimed victory with a score of 76 gross. He beat handicapped 2 player Watson Burugu to second position. Burugu managed a score of 79 gross.

At the same time, Mary Karano won the ladies' gross category. She captured the top spot with a score of 90 gross. Junior golfer Navya Nagda, was runner up in the category after hitting 91 gross.

In the Nett categories, Jane Wokabi, playing off handicap 26, secured the top position with an impressive score of 70 nett points.

Former legislator Musikari Kombo, playing off handicap 27, claimed the top spot in the men's Nett category with an impressive score of 66 points.

Nathan Mwangi, playing off handicap 8, was victorious in the juniors category with a score of 81 gross.

Juniors Nathan and Ann Mwangi  were winners in the Longest Drive challenge among the men and ladies categories respectively.

Vincent Landa claimed the Nearest to the Pin challenge, demonstrating remarkable accuracy in his shots.

VetLab captain Anik Patel said: "The success of this event would not have been possible without  NCBA bank's contribution. We are proud to have hosted the series as part of our centenary celebrations. We thank the golfers who turned out in large numbers to make the tournament a success."

The seventh leg of the series will  be held at Karen Country Club on July 1.
