Kisii School is confident of retaining the Kisii County rugby 7s title as Kenya Secondary Schools Term Two Games kick off today at Nduru Boys.

Kisii School’s head coach Hesborn Chweya said: “We want to continue with our dominance and our target is to lift both the county and regional titles.”

He said they want to represent the country at the East Africa Games set for August in Uganda. Kisii School is also the county and Nyanza region 7s champions.

Pool ‘C’ will feature Gesero, Nyamache and Rioma Secondary while hosts Nduru Boys will face Itierio Boys and Nyamagwa Boys in Pool ‘D’.

The girls' rugby 7s, which has been incorporated in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) calendar for the first time, will feature Nyamagwa, Kereri and Nyangoge in Pool ‘A’ and Nyagichence, Rianyanchabera, and Rioma in Pool 'B'. Hema will face Bobaracho and Ekerubo in Pool ‘C’.

In boys’ soccer, defending champions Ndonyo Mixed start their title defence in Pool ‘D’ against Ongicha and representatives from the Marani sub-county.

Pool ‘A’ will feature Mariwa, Sameta Boys and Itumbe while Pool ‘B’ has Igonga, Hema and Kebabe SDA. Favourites Nyanchwa Boys will play against Machongo and Nyaginchenche in Pool ‘C’.

In the girls’ category, defending champions Kerongorori start their title defence against Kereri Girls and Geturi in Pool ‘A’ while Nyabisase, Nyabonge and Iranda will square it out in Pool ‘B’.

In Pool C, St Angelas, Ayoraand Nyabigena Girls will battle it out as Gesero plays Moremani and Keberesi in Pool D.
