Investors and traders have started visiting Limuru in Kiambu county looking for land to lease, rent or buy.
This is after the World Bank upgraded its infrastructure and some amenities for Sh30 million.
Kiambu Governor James Nyoro said the newly tarmacked Mukuru road now connects Limuru town with the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
“Limuru now has several tarmacked roads connecting it to the Nairobi-Nakuru highway,” Nyoro said on Friday.
The governor thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for creating six municipalities in the county in 2018.
These municipalities include Karuri, Ruiru, Kikuyu, Kiambu, Thika and Limuru and are funded by the World Bank through the county government.
Limuru municipality manager Ndung’u Muna on Monday said they have installed street lights, built drainages, tarmacked and repaired roads within Limuru town including the 3km Mukuru road.
Muna said the municipality covers both Limuru and Lari, adding that they also tarmacked Kambaa Kireita road in Kijabe ward.
“Once motorists realise that the road is complete, they will start avoiding Limuru-Kwambira road even if it is tarmacked, to bypass traffic in Limuru town,” trader Peter Macharia said.
He added that the town can operate 24 hours, once the 10pm to 4am curfew to reduce the spread of Covid-19 disease ends.
“There are boda boda operators, taxis and shops can be opened as well as market since there are street lights and well-tarmacked roads,” Macharia said.
