Governor Guyo's elder brother Ali Hassan is dead

In March this year, Guyo lost 4 family members in a grisly road accident along Isiolo-Meru road.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo is mourning the death of his elder brother, Ali Hassan.

He died on Thursday morning in Nairobi at his home in Nyamavilla.

“Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raj'iun (To God we belong and to Him we return). It is with great sadness that I have learned the passing of My brother Ali. May Almighty Allah Grant him Jannatul Firdou,” Guyo said.

The Governor told the Star, that his brother succumbed to Kidney and liver failures.

“He had been ailing for the last three years  and was on and off hospital. He died in his sleep this morning at around 2am,” Guyo said .

Ali has left behind two children and his wife.

The burial will take place on Thursday morning at the Langata Cemetery, in line with Muslim rites.

Guyo said the death came as a shock to their family.

“God who is our creator knows why it did happen. We have lost him as a family but we cannot question God’s action,” he said.

Barely seven months ago, the governor lost four family members in a grisly road accident along the Isiolo-Meru road.

Those who perished in the March 28 accident included his brother Hassan Borana, 43, his brother's wife Fatuma Hassan Borana, 39, their two kids Talasso Hassan Borana, 14 and Khadija Hassan, aged 10.

Governor Guyo comes from a family of eight siblings; three are now deceased - two brothers and a sister.
