  • Isiolo, just like the other counties in Northern Kenya suffers from acute water shortage
  • Garbatulla and Kombola boreholes are now providing enough water
Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo on Wednesday.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has said his administration is committed to ensure all settlements have access to clean water.

He said this will be achieved through digging of more boreholes and building an efficient piping system.

Guyo said the county has invested heavily in water and health departments to end residents' struggles.

For decades, Isiolo residents have been walking long distances in search of water and health services.

“We all know that water is life. My administration is determined towards ensuring we cover all corners of our county as we seek to alleviate suffering of the pastoralists community,”  Guyo said.

He said Garbatulla and Kombola boreholes are now providing enough water.

Guyo said his administration has in two years increased the county’s water sources from 44 boreholes to 59.

“The most recent achievement is the fully equipped borehole in Kombola, Garbatula subcounty. The Lagaaman Borehole project is underway in Oldonyiro ward, bringing hope of clean water to families,” he said.

“The people of Kombola, Duse and Gubadida all now have water. The rehabilitation of existing boreholes is also underway. Our commitment to expanding clean water access across Isiolo remains steadfast.”

He said the  projects will provide clean water to more than 2,000 households, supporting agriculture, livestock and domestic use.
