Mbita High, Orero Boys lead in KCSE performance in Homa Bay

Mbita High School and Orero High School are among the top-performing schools in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination results in Homa Bay.

Mbita High School scored a mean of 9.2689 points.

In the results, 16 students scored a mean score of A (plain).

Those who got A- were 73, B+ (103), B (96), B- (94), C+ ( 38), C (3) and C- ( 1). 

Principal Kennedy Ojijo said they made the achievement due to hard work and early completion of the syllabus.

“We prepared our candidates well by completing the syllabus early," Ojijo said.

Speaking after the release of the results, Ojijo also attributed the excellent performance to cooperation among the board of management, parents and students.

"Parents and BOM of the school were cooperative. Most students were disciplined and culminated in a good performance," Ojijo added.

At Orero High School, they scored a mean of 9.2885 points.

In the results, one student scored an A (plain), A- (58), B+ (149), B (186), B- (87), C+ (17), C (1).

Principal Dickens Bula attributed the excellent performance to cooperation between the Board of Management, parents and students.

“The collaboration between the entire school communities enabled us to achieve excellent performance,” Bula said.

Bula said they worked hard to achieve good results among students and teachers.

“We were able to achieve good results due to early completion of the syllabus and the hard work of our students,” Bula said.

Agoro Sare High School got a mean score of 8.577 points with Seven candidates getting A(plain), A-(38), B+(78), B (152), B-(141), C+(89), C(10) and C-(5).

The school principal Isaack Ogol said a total of 515 candidates got C+ and above which is the university entry grade.

“We’re pleased with the results because of hard work,” Ogol said.

Asumbi Girls National School got a mean score of 8.3635 points. The school had a total of 531 candidates with seven candidates getting A-(minus), B+(65), B plain (169),B-(186),C+(82),C plain(21),C-(1).

At Oriwo Boys’ High School, the school got a mean score of 7.972. Four students got  A -,  B+ (53),  B (139), B- (244), C+ (175), C (33), C- (10) and D- (1).

Oriwo Principal Henry Airo thanked his teachers, BOM and parents for their working together that enabled the achievement.

“Their hard work, commitment and collaboration truly paid off. Let this success be a testament to the collective efforts that make our educational community thrive,” Airo said.
