President William Ruto on Wednesday, commissioned the Kericho water supply project in Ainamoi.
Speaking to Kericho residents, Ruto said the Sh1.2 billion Kimugu Water Project will enhance water supply across three constituencies.
The project is set to produce at least 13 million litres of water every day.
"It will benefit at least 200,000 households with a 50-kilometre pipeline across Belgut, Kipkelion East and Ainamoi constituencies," Ruto said.
The project will ease the perennial water shortage in Kericho town and trading centres within the county.
However, some Kericho MCAs walked out of Ruto’s event citing harassment by his security team.
The MCAs are heard saying they will head to the assembly instead of attending the event.
"Let us walk on foot and go back to the county assembly, it is not far. Let them be addressed by a mzungu. We can't be disrespected and pushed from one side to the other by his security," the MCAs were heard saying.
Kericho Governor Eric Mutai had earlier revealed that the mega project was constructed through a joint partnership between the national and county government.
