Mama Ida Odinga on Wednesday joined Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen as he presided over the launch of the first commercial flight by Skyward Express from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Migori.
The two who were joined by the cabin crew at the airport where the CS gave a speech before the plane took off.
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairperson Caleb Kositany, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, Migori Senator Eddy Oketch, EALA MP Hassan Omar were also in attendance.
KAA recently rehabilitated Migori Airstrip as part of its strategy to open the region to the country's growing aviation industry.
The renovation which was done in 2 phases, included extending the runway from 1.1km to 1.2km & tarmacking it to the required standards.
In January this year, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the company of CS Murkomen presided over the launch of the first commercial flight by Skyward Express from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Kakamega town.
The inaugural flight came less than a week after President William Ruto commissioned the newly rehabilitated Kakamega Airstrip on December 9, 2022
